Breakthrough! SCGSS's 1600-ton gantry crane has been launched, setting a new benchmark for high-end equipment intelligent manufacturing
 
 On the afternoon of January 6th, with the installation of the last set of fixed binding components in place, the 1600-ton super-large gantry crane, manufactured and assembled by Shanghai Construction (Jiangsu) Steel Structure Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "SCGSS"), successfully completed the shipment operation and officially commenced its delivery to Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Hudong Shipyard").
The successful shipment of this heavyweight equipment not only broke the tonnage ceiling for cranes in the field of steel gantry cranes for Shanghai Construction Engineering Group, but also, thanks to multiple innovative processes and technological achievements, provided a reproducible and scalable industry example for the research, development, manufacturing, and transportation of ultra-large components in the high-end equipment manufacturing industry. Breakthroughs in both volume and span, showcasing hard power through full-process manufacturing. 

The 1600-ton gantry crane delivered this time is a core benchmark project for Shanghai Construction & Engineering Steel Structure Co., Ltd. as it marks its transformation into the high-end equipment manufacturing field. The overall volume of the project reaches 3500 tons (equivalent to the total weight of 1750 family cars), utilizing an optimized single-beam structure with a span of 172 meters, significantly surpassing conventional standards of the same type. It can fully cover the core operation area for large-scale shipbuilding at Hudong Shipyard. Relying on the advanced design and management expertise of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation No. 9 Design & Research Institute, SCGSS has taken the lead in the entire process of project detailed design, steel procurement, core component processing, factory pre-assembly, and on-site general assembly. During the detailed design phase, a three-dimensional model is established to precisely optimize nodes. In the procurement phase, international standard high-strength steel is carefully selected to ensure heavy-load durability. During the manufacturing phase, intelligent equipment such as CNC cutting and welding robots are utilized to achieve millimeter-level processing accuracy, laying a solid foundation for assembly operations.
Innovation. A 50-day assembly time setting a new industry speed record
 
 The components of the super-large gantry crane are massive and concentrated in weight, making the assembly operation highly demanding in terms of technology, coordination, and safety control. The project team innovatively adopted the gantry crane assembly fabrication technology, creating an integrated "processing-transportation-assembly" assembly line operation mode, successfully overcoming industry difficulties.
By reasonably dividing the operation zones on site, the main components are directly transported to the assembly station via specialized equipment, reducing secondary transportation. The gantry crane equipment, with its flexible operating radius and stable lifting capacity, accurately completes processes such as docking, positioning, and welding. Ultimately, the assembly duration of the main components was shortened from the industry standard of 70 days to 50 days, setting a new record for the assembly speed of similar equipment and ensuring the project is delivered on schedule.
