Recently, the first batch of products for the CMA CGM Wind Deflector Project undertaken by SCGSS and commissioned by COSCO Shipping Group Shanghai Co., Ltd. was successfully dispatched, marking the successful completion of the project's phased delivery task.
With a total weight of 333 tons, the project features a complex structure incorporating a large number of 8mm hyperbolic thin plates and bent angle steels, presenting extreme challenges in fabrication and inspection. The project team strictly implemented procedures including pre-welding inspection, deformation control during welding and post-welding correction to ensure product quality. Fabricated in four sections as per design requirements, the largest single section weighs approximately 82 tons with a lifting height of 15 meters. The hoisting task was precisely accomplished through the coordinated operation of crawler cranes and truck cranes.
Faced with intricate production processes encompassing key stages such as curved jig erection, outer plate bending, block fabrication, coating and final grand assembly, the project team pooled their efforts to overcome difficulties. After more than four months of intensive work, with strict control over quality and schedule, the team finally completed the fabrication and shipment on schedule.

The wind deflectors shipped this time will be installed at the bow of the container ship CMA CGM ELYSEES. As a benchmark for eco-friendly container vessels, the ship measures 399.9 meters in overall length, 61.3 meters in molded breadth and has a deadweight tonnage of nearly 220,000 tons. The installation of the wind deflectors will effectively reduce navigation carbon emissions, further strengthening its environmental advantages.
The smooth shipment of the project has accumulated valuable experience for the company's subsequent expansion into similar high-end maritime projects, while further deepening the mutual trust and cooperation with COSCO Shipping Group, leading both parties to stride into a new stage of win-win development.
